What You Need To KnowOverviewThe Application Developer's (AD)
role is to design, develop and enhance in-house software
applications or extensions to meet business requirements and
business objectives. This can also include translating business
requirements from functional specifications into technical
requirements for development, application evaluation, application
configuration, application and integration testing as well as
completing appropriate documentation. In this role, the AD will use
best practices in software development and adhere to SGWS
development standards, as well as, focus on quality and innovation.
The Application Developer will also be responsible for delivering
support to end users in the organization for specific software
applications, including troubleshooting applications.Specialized
Skills and TechnologiesAdvanced knowledge of EDI X12
TransactionsAdvanced knowledge of XML, CSV, and other Unformatted
filesGood AS/400 and CL Programming skillsAdvanced knowledge of
Sterling B2B Integrator MappingAdvanced knowledge of Sterling B2B
Integrator Business Process Creation and EditingGood SQL
skillsExperienced with Current SGWS Order to Cash Systems on AS/400
and SAPExperienced with Communication ProtocolsGood IP Networking
understandingGood understanding of Microsoft Windows Server OSAble
to create Technical Specifications, File Specs, and XML
Schema's.Primary ResponsibilitiesServe in a team leader capacity
with large-scale Application Development projects /
programsParticipate in Agile teamsComplete peer code reviews for
quality and consistencyReport application progress and outcomes
Provide coaching and development to junior Application
DevelopersCoordinate the work of 3rd party development teamsDrive
the collection of required information to develop work scope around
solutions to attain business requirements along with data needs as
required.Serve as liaison between Divisions/Functions and IT on
projects and enhancementsCollect and evaluate information,
formulate as well as test hypothesis.Drive technical validity of
solution.Coordinate issues resolution activities with varied
stakeholdersReview entire problem logs and identify recurring
problems.Record projects status along with open issues every
week.Ensure to follow up on problems and process independently
related to solutions engineering.Participate in seminars, trade
shows and oversee internal demonstration facilities etc.Develop
meeting structure and present at meetingsDetermine opportunities to
redesign business processes to achieve better business
resultsDetermine opportunities to automate business processes and
functionsEducate the IT team on the goals of the businessManage
process conformity and complianceDrive the development of business
and technical process documentation and training
materialsUnderstand, communicate and reinforce standard business
process conceptsEstablish and maintain relationships with team

QualificationsBachelor's Degree or a combination of work experience
and educationTwo (2) years in application development or comparable
experienceExperience developing and supporting production
applications including limited experience coordinating and leading
development teams/projectsExperience working in large complex
technology projects including those with offshore teamsStrong team
player with the ability to work with multiple stakeholders across a
variety of functions as well as able to work
