Facility Contract Services is currently seeking dynamic and goal-driven employees for the City of Pembroke Pines Planning and Economic Development Department. Employees that are motivated to take on today's greatest challenges and rewards in the field of local public service and who are passionate about making a difference in local government.This exciting opportunity in the City of Pembroke Pines operates 4 days a week (Monday through Thursday 7:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M.) and offers excellent compensation and benefits including health insurance and 401(k) with a Company match.NATURE OF WORK:Performs professional work involving the housing and grants programs within the Planning and Economic Development department. Researches and coordinates housing programs. Promotes City housing programs where required. Organizes and tracks housing program activities. Responsive to comments / concerns generated by the public, housing consultants / contractors, and the City.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES: Coordinates and monitors the implementation of the City's housing grant programs through the City's housing program administrator consultant. Ensures grant projects are being administered in a timely manner. Creates internal status reports on housing projects in coordination with data provided by the city housing administrator consultant. Assists with budget and tracking of balances related to housing grant funds. Attends meetings and training related to affordable housing and housing grant programs. Assists in the creation of City agenda items, Resolutions and Ordinances pertaining to housing grant programs and affordable housing projects. Assists in the creation and distribution of public notices and public outreach materials related to housing programs. Provide assistance to the general public related to City Housing Programs. Mediates issues and concerns between program housing administrator consultant, program contractors, inspectors and homeowners as needed. Coordinates with the finance department personnel to ensure grant funds are dispensed appropriately. Coordinates with the building department to ensure housing projects requiring building permits are processed in a timely manner. Promotes availability of City housing grant programs. Performs site visits for housing grant projects when required and to document the progress on those projects. Receives and reviews housing development and grant projects for accuracy. Creates and implements customer satisfaction surveys related to the implementation of housing programs. Recommends updates and modifications to city housing grant strategies based on program and performance. Assists with the compilation of data and presentation materials related to the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee. Attend meetings, possibly afterhours, of the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee. Monitors legislation and changes to program requirements related to housing programs and affordable housing. Performs other related duties as assigned and/or required.QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Public Administration, Marketing, Planning, or related filed; supplemented two years of progressively responsible experience in economic and community development to include federal and state grant programs; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is preferred.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:Possession of a valid, appropriate driver's license and an acceptable driving record.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Knowledge of business English and spelling. Spanish speaker is a plus.General knowledge of laws, codes and regulations related to City Housing Programs.General knowledge of publicly funded programs such as CDBG, HOME, SHIP, NSPGeneral knowledge of the building permit process.Ability to read, interpret and explain City, State, and Federal laws, ordinances and regulations applicable to the work.Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.Ability to clearly communicate information both verbally and in writing.Ability to operate basic office equipment.Ability to operate a City vehicle.Ability to access, operate and maintain various software applications.Ability to perform routine mathematical computations and tabulations accurately and efficiently.Ability to read, update and maintain various records and files.BENEFITS:One of the many advantages of working with the Vesta Property Services family of companies are the great benefits that we offer to you and your eligible dependents.
