Summary:
Develops, implements, and coordinates risk management activities for Memorial Healthcare System under the direction of the Corporate Director of Risk Management.
Detailed responsibilities:
Develops, implements, and evaluates practices and policies to ensure enterprise-wide safety and quality of care.
Collects and assesses data to identify potential or actual sources of risk.
Collaborates with leaders and all staff and applicable committees with respect to risk-related incidents, claims, litigation, policies, and practices. Assists with the initial response, investigation and handling of hospital professional liability and general liability claims.
Work closely with leaders and team members in identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing risk reduction strategies, actively participating in organizational quality, safety, and improvement initiatives. Develops or facilitates safety and quality of care initiatives. Facilitates root causes analysis investigations and reporting of adverse events and sentinel events.
May perform on-call at the discretion of the Corporate Director of Risk Management.
Coordinate reporting of patient care-related incidents to the Agency for Healthcare Administration, Department of Health and FDA as required by law. Directs investigation and development of corrective and preventative action plans. Submits required reports to state and federal agencies.
Develops, updates and presents risk management educational programs to appropriate hospital and medical staff.
Assist in Facilitating onsite regulatory/accreditation survey activities Agency for Healthcare Administration (AHCA), The Joint Commission (TJC), and other agencies as assigned.

Required Work Experience: Five (5) years of hospital related clinical risk management experience that includes three (3) years in a healthcare leadership role.

Candidate must be Certified Professional in Health Care Risk Management (CPHRM) or Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS).
