Patient Care Associate: MHM - Nursing Administration
Hiring for all PCA openings at Memorial Healthcare System Westside for all shifts, Full Time, Part Time, and Staff Relief. All areas: ;

Telemetry: offers great opportunities for growth and learning. We care for a wide variety of acutely ill patients, with focuses on heart failure and COPD. Our team works collaboratively to ensure the best possible patient outcomes and experience. ;

Telemetry/Stroke: Designated Stroke/Telemetry unit with a diverse population of patients and disease processes. Our team is dedicated to recognizing and delivering patient -s needs with the collaboration and teamwork of physician, rehabilitative team, and case manager to ensure patient safety Medical/Telemetry: We have a total of 36 beds caring for the adult population with a general mix of medical, surgical and telemetry patients. We care for a wide variety of patients with medical and cardiac conditions. Our general surgical patients include gynecological, maxillofacial, orthopedics, urological and reconstructive surgeries

Emergency Department/Pediatric Emergency: This ER is a fast-paced, 26-bed emergency department that sees over 40,000 patients/year. Our integrated department cares for both adults and children. Our focus is being a dynamic and progressive emergency department while providing safe, efficient care to the local community.

Labor & Delivery: We are a fast-paced unit that promotes a safe, quality, customer-focused birth experience, with a Level 2 NICU backup.

Mother Baby: Patient- and family-centered care is at the heart of our Mother Baby Unit, which is an intricate part of Memorial Hospital Miramar Family Birthplace. Every licensed registered nurse will have the opportunity to work in collaboration with our staff of board-certified obstetricians and neonatologists. Our Mother Baby RNs are focused on providing comprehensive care to mothers and their newborns after the delivery while in an atmosphere of private rooms and a breastfeeding friendly environment.

PACU/Recovery Room: The PACU area has 11 bays and has a diverse population of pediatrics and Adult patients for post procedural care. This is a fast paced area and critical thinking must be a priority. The care of these patients begin with the protocol of enhanced recovery after surgery, which is a multi- modal set of evidence-based practices that improve patients - experience and recovery after surgery. The Nurse resident is also cross trained in Preop as a collaborative approach in periop care.


Under the supervision of an RN, performs basic patient care and other related technical and clinical support activities.

Detailed responsibilities:

* Performs basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including but not limited to: monitoring vital signs, EKG testing, phlebotomy, taking blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output.
* Assists patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, and eating
* Monitors patient status and response; Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
* Assists with keeping patient rooms/areas stocked, clean and orderly.
* Assist with transporting patients, as needed.
* Additional duties as assigned.

Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Required Work Experience: Six (6) month patient care experience required if no prior completion of patient care training.
