The Healthcare Economics Consultant supports and validates physician incentive / performance based contracting activities through financial and network pricing modeling, analysis, and reporting.

You'll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from SE Region or NE Region and possibly Central as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities:


  • Develop, monitor and evolve the payment incentive model
  • Work as part of a cross-functional team and interact with external constituencies
  • Provide data analysis, contract auditing and metrics reporting to management
  • Perform reconciliations to determine if physicians have met contractual obligations
  • Translate highly complex concepts in ways that can be understood by a variety of audiences
  • Advocate for best economics internally and externally
  • Develop, analyze and monitor new, routine and ad hoc reports
  • Predict emerging customer needs and develop innovative solutions to meet them
  • Solve unique and complex problems with broad impact on the business
  • Develop and manage business plans to achieve objectives
  • Influence senior leadership to adopt new ideas, products, and / or approaches

    Required Qualifications:


    • 5+ years of analytical experience in financial analysis, healthcare pricing, network management, healthcare economics, or related discipline
    • 3+ years of experience with provider payment methodologies and healthcare products
    • 2+ years of experience in creating and using financial modeling tools, spreadsheets, and information acquisition tools including experience in interpreting and reviewing financial modeling results to evaluate the financial impact of contract changes and develop forecasts
    • Intermediate level of proficiency in performing financial impact analysis, risk management, and data manipulation
    • Advanced level proficiency in MS Excel
    • Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential job function of this role. Candidates located in states that mandate COVID-19 booster doses must also comply with those state requirements.       • Undergraduate Degree
      • Expert level proficiency in MS Excel
      • Knowledge of Tableau
      • Knowledge of MS Access and Power Point
      • Proven written and verbal communication skills

        Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $66,100 to $118,300. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $72,800 to $129,900. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
