Reports to: Head of School and CFO
Position Status: Exempt/Full-Time/Senior Leadership Position

Position Summary:
The director of Finance provides management and oversight for the following Business Office functions: budgeting, financial reporting, human resources, payroll, purchasing, receivables, payables, cash management, and financial aid. This position reports to the CFO and Head of School and works closely with the Finance committee of our Board of Trustees.

Additional Functions:
- Oversees planning, organization and management of the Business Office (including bank reconciliation, cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchasing and investing), budgeting, financial reporting, enrollment, human resources, payroll and billing.
- Establishes policies, procedures, standards and strategies for areas of responsibility and provides adequate internal control capabilities and strengths to safeguard the school's assets.
-Prepares a $7.5+ million annual budget
- Secures adequate systems and establishes procedures to meet the information needs of the school and its administration.
- Manages Human Resources including contracts, benefits and compensation for 65+ employees.
- Maintains compliance with governmental regulations and changing regulatory environment by staying current on law and regulations that may affect compliance.
- Coordinates investments made on behalf of the school in cooperation with the Finance Committee of the Board of Trustees
- Manages the financial aid process with the Director of Admissions, including award decisions and notifications.
- Administers and maintains all property, casualty and liability insurance for the school.
-Manages student enrollment annually.
Required Qualifications:
Position requires:
A college degree. An MBA or other related advanced degree is an asset.
10+ years of managerial level accounting/financial business management experience, preferably in an academic environment. Must include experience with budgeting and forecasting.
Requires knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and experience with automated accounting systems.
excellent communications skills, and good interpersonal, organizational, leadership, management, and supervisory skills.
skill in use of personal computers and accounting software systems as well as word processing and spreadsheet packages.
the ability to work independently as well as with staff, teachers, parents, and community groups at all times.
to exhibit a positive attitude, to be self-motivated and to be able to cope successfully with schedules and deadlines.
